Outriders’ delay isn’t even the only major delay from Square Enix this year. It delayed Final Fantasy VII Remakeits biggest title of the year, to April 10 from its original March 3 release date to “apply final polish”. Marvel’s Avengers was also pushed back from a May 2020 release to September 2020.

Release date of Outriders

Square Enix(Japanese video game holding company) said Outriders would be released in Summer 2020, but that window was pushed back due to covid-19 pandemic to Holiday 2020 when the game reemerged in February. Unfortunately, it is making neither of those release windows. Square Enix confirmed in October 2020 that the release date for Outriders is FEBRUARY 2, 2021. Check out official tweets below.

On which platforms outriders is releasing?

Do Outriders support Cross-Platform?

This means that this cross-gen (PC players will be able to play with players) game is coming out almost four months after Xbox Series X and PS5 get released on November 10 and 12, respectively.

Square Enix External Studios Co-Head Lead Singleton claimed the delay was to polish the game further and add features like cross-play that “will make our game much more accessible on all platforms.”

While Outridersdevelopers have confirmed to Inverse that the game is already in the final stages of “finishing, balancing, and polishing,” they appear to need a little more time to ensure that the game the best it can be before launch.

The storyline is really incredible

Outriders follow the titular groups of characters who were living on the earth part of the last bastion of humanity after Earth is ravaged beyond repair by climate change. The survivors flee to Enoch, which initially seems nice, but a mysterious force called “The ANOMALY” ruins typical technology and warps anything it touches during their search for a mysterious signal—which may indicate hope for humanity’s future. The storm grants both Enoch’s inhabitants and the colonists superpowers. Players fall into a 30-year coma after being caught in it and have special powers when they woke up.

From there, it appears that players will have to deal with all of the different factions scattered throughout Enoch either monsters or humans in order to hopefully restore some semblance of a nice civilization.

Development of adorable Game

In 2015, polish developer People Can Fly started Outriders’ development. Square Enix agreed to publish it and encouraged the team to expand on their vision. To develop the game, People Can Fly expanded the studio from having 40 members to more than 200 members. Outriders’ gameplay reveals caused critics to compare the game to other live service games such as Destiny and Tom Clancy’s The Division, though People Can Fly affirmed that Outriders is not a live service title and that it was a game that players can “start and finish”.

The game was designed with cooperative gameplay in mind, though the team put a lot of emphasis on writing the game’s story, with the lead writer Joshua Rubin comparing it to Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness. The game’s narrative features a much more serious tone than Bulletstorm as the studio wanted to prove that it can also write a mature story.

On May 16, 2018, Square Enix announced that they would publish the next title from People Can Fly. Announced at E3 2019, the game is set to be released for Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 2, 2021, after being delayed from its late 2020 timeline due to impacts from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Map of the game

As you will play further you will find yourself in another camp and see a map showing many new areas to explore. Check the video in the tweet below.

Game Play of Outriders

The game incorporates various role-playing elements. As the players explore and get into higher levels, they can explore different hub areas, talk to non-playable characters, and complete side missions. It’s aiming to be less cartoonish than People Can Fly’s previous outing Bulletstorm and will have visceral gore and weapons. To start, weapons will be fairly realistic, think shotguns and sniper rifles. That being said, the developers have teased that weapons will get more fantastical over the course of the game, with special modifications that burn or even poison enemies.

A lot of RPG elements have been spliced in as well. Enemies have health bars, though People Can Fly told Game Informer that they don’t want enemies to feel like bullet sponges. Inverse has gone hands-on with the game and can confirm that the game feels like Gears of War meets Destiny.

The game features a skill tree that allows players to unlock and upgrade their skills. Players have the ability to customize their character’s appearance and will be able to choose between four different classes. It gives abilities to use in addition to one’s weapons: The Trickster, The Pyromancer, The Devastator, and The Technomancer. These special skills have a short cooldown time and can be combined with other skills for maximum effects. Players combat both monsters and human enemies. As the player progresses, the world level (the game’s equivalent to gameplay difficulty) will increase. If the world level is high, it is more likely for the player to get high-end loot from dropped by defeated enemies

Abilities of Characters in Outriders

Trickster is the ability to manipulate time. It is poised to be the most nimble of the three as it can teleport and slow downtime to get out of tough situations.

The Pyromancer, which has the ability of heat-based attacks that it can use. It has the ability to manipulate time. It can attack within a second before anyone got ready to fight.

The Devastator, has the ability which can unleash seismic attacks.

The Technomancer, which serves as the tank of the group.

This class is heavy-hitting, but can also use its abilities to protect itself with stone armor. If you want to see these first three classes in action, check out the trailer unveiling them.

Additionally, it can freeze enemies, poison them, and summon turrets to fend opponents off. Players can hide behind cover to shield themselves from enemy attacks. Though if the player got attacked then health will only regenerate if the player manages to hurt or kill enemies i.e no Medi-kit like other games.
